It’s not unusual for little kids to be afraid there’s a monster in their room when it’s bedtime, what is unusual is actually finding one. That’s exactly what happened to a babysitter in Kansas who was checking under the bed of a child she was watching Monday night to ease their fears after they complained there was a “monster” hiding down there. But this monster was a real man.
“She came face-to-face with a male suspect who was hiding there,” the Barton County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies arrived around 10:30p.m. after the babysitter called to report the incident. She told them about finding the man, who ran once she found him, knocking both the sitter and a child down as he made his escape.
Authorities searched the area that night, but didn’t find the man right away. Their luck changed the next day, when they spotted the suspect, Martin Villalobos Jr., who had once lived at the residence. He tried to get away again, but was caught after a short pursuit and has been arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, child endangerment, felony obstruction of a law enforcement officer and violation of a protection from abuse order.
