Do you find yourself checking travel sites and planning trips you’re not actually taking? Maybe it’s time to make those vacation fantasies a reality. According to a new survey, 75% of workers report experiencing mental fog on the job very recently, a clear sign a getaway is in order.
The poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults reveals:
- Seven in 10 Americans say they’re already in vacation mode three days before departure.
- Nearly half (47%) admit they struggle to focus at work in the days leading up to a vacation.
- Before they even write their out-of-office email, 59% say they’re already “mentally out of office.”
- While a lot of people prefer to plan every detail of a vacation, 36% say they can be “trip ready” in a day or less and 16% can do it in just a few hours.
- But 45% of those who like spontaneous trips better admit they still need at least three days, on average, to pack and prepare.
- More than a quarter (28%) admit they feel anxious about planning ahead of a trip.
- They worry most about money/budget (54%), packing (28%) and booking hotels (17%).
- But the mental benefits of knowing a trip is right around the corner outweigh the stress of preparing for it, as 87% say having a vacation planned helps their mental well-being.
- A lucky one in three respondents currently have a trip booked, while 31% confess they daydream daily about being on vacation.
