Lowe’s Gives Away 100 Tiny Homes To NC Hurricane Survivors

Lowe’s is helping families in Western North Carolina recover from Hurricane Helene by donating 100 tiny homes. Fully equipped with heat, a kitchen, bathroom, and beds, these homes let families stay close to their communities while rebuilding. Thanks to hundreds of volunteers, the first homes were delivered just in time for Christmas, complete with furnishings and festive décor from Lowe’s.

Kathy Graham, a longtime Asheville resident, was moved to tears when she saw her new home. “It’s gorgeous,” she says, “I can’t even say how much I appreciate it.” The project began when Lowe’s partnered with Kelly McArdle Construction to build a prototype, and then over 400 volunteers worked around the clock to assemble the homes. Lowe’s also purchased additional homes from Incredible Tiny Homes, set to be delivered by January.

The tiny home project has drawn widespread community support and contributions from numerous organizations including Habitat for Humanity, NASCAR haulers, and BeLoved Asheville, who all came together to make it happen. In the wake of the devastating storm, FEMA has provided $279-million in aid to rent homes and apartments for over 140-thousand households, but for residents who didn’t want to leave their communities, these tiny homes bring hope and stability, allowing them to be close by while restorations continue.
